Sexual Abuse & Misconduct Policy

Out in Snohomish is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants, volunteers, staff, vendors, and community members — including minors and vulnerable individuals.

We have zero tolerance for sexual abuse, sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, grooming, or any form of sexual misconduct.

Prohibited Conduct

The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:

  • Any sexual contact or sexualized behavior without explicit, ongoing consent

  • Sexual contact or communication with a minor

  • Grooming behaviors or boundary violations with minors or vulnerable individuals

  • Sexual harassment, including unwelcome comments, advances, jokes, or gestures

  • Sharing sexually explicit materials in organizational spaces or communications

  • Retaliation against anyone who reports misconduct

Expectations of Volunteers

All volunteers agree to:

  • Maintain appropriate physical and emotional boundaries at all times

  • Avoid being alone in isolated settings with a minor whenever possible (two-adult rule when applicable)

  • Communicate respectfully and appropriately in person and online

  • Immediately report any suspected abuse, misconduct, or policy violations

Reporting

Any volunteer who witnesses, experiences, or suspects sexual abuse or misconduct must report it immediately to an Out in Snohomish board member or designated event lead. Reports will be taken seriously and handled promptly and confidentially to the extent possible.

Out in Snohomish reserves the right to remove any volunteer or participant who violates this policy and may report suspected criminal behavior to appropriate authorities.
